Snowman in Finland I @SatuVW I Destination Unknown

And so the holidays started over a week ago, with me swerving into the Dalen parking lot outside Oslo’s Gardermoen Airport with two excited kids in the back, while my husband, who had made the trek from southwest England all the way to Norway that same morning already waited for our arrival. It hasn’t been quite the winter wonderland I hoped here in Finland, but it has been holidays all the same. I have hardly bothered to open my laptop other than to stare at beautiful images in Pinterest, my latest addiction, I have let my mobile phone merrily run out of battery and emails have been left unanswered waiting for the new year.

For me, Christmas is about being with the family, not so much about all the hassle that goes with the holidays, and although kids have some presents waiting to be opened, my husband has to do with few extra kisses. In Pinterest though I have loved all the subtle (and not so subtle…) holiday images that I have been busy pinning, and if you spot few images in the board below with a bed, cup of tea and book, that’s what I’m talking about when I mention the word holidays this year.

It’s not that I haven’t wanted to venture outside, it’s just that I’ve let the blackhole called Pinterest suck me in and all my adventures have been done virtually, while outside the weather has rotated between rain, sleet and snow.

While I’ve been doing my best to avoid the online world, social media included during these holidays, I wanted to quickly log in and wish you a lovely white or at least sunny Christmas where ever you are! Even though the snowmen we put together might not look the merriest, at least we’ve got a little bit of snow here in Finland…

It’s been quite the year with amazing adventures and dreams coming true (read: the biking trip along the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland!) and I’m looking forward to new adventures in 2015. Meanwhile, emptying a few chocolate boxes in the spirit of Christmas doesn’t sound like a bad plan at all.

I haven’t totally forgotten my goal to do little adventures every week even though it’s been eerily quiet in this corner of the world wide web of late, and I have few stories about equipment, or lack of it coming up and the little lady has been busy conquering mountains on both downhill and cross-country skis.

It’s all HO HO HO over here in Finland, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and hope to see you over here in the New Year again!!
